Newly arrived immigrants to the United States are often unfamiliar with the English language and American system, which makes it extremely difficult for them to succeed. Families face a multitude of challenges, such as language barriers, poverty, and discrimination. All these challenges severely diminish their prospects of finding good jobs and become self-sustaining.
VFA’s work in this area includes our Youth Jobs Readiness Training program, where we provide recent-arrival youth with career counseling, professional skills development, and internship placement. The program also provides support to parents of these students so that they have skills to support their children.
