EASE Celebrates End of the Year with a BBQ and Water Balloon Fight

One of the students, Tai, found a couple "weirdos" (program coordinators, Kerry and Klarrisa) hanging out at the party.

The Vietnamese Friendship Association’s EASE after school program ended the year last Friday with a BBQ celebration at the New Holly Learning Center. The staff spent the afternoon preparing decorations, setting up the hall and filing up over two hundred water balloons for the fun-filled afternoon.  Students started their party with t-shirt signings, photos with friends, and competitive games of Connect 4 and Trouble with the younger students.

Meanwhile, Mr. James was busy outside grilling up burgers and hotdogs.  The staff prepared a glorious spread that included the hamburgers, hotdogs, a variety of chips, cookies, cheesecake, watermelon, and soda pop.  Afterwards, Mr. James rounded the students for a competitive dodgeball tournament, which was a great way for them to regain their energy after the meal.  Much energy was need since the day ended with an exciting battle of water balloons.  The students were split into two teams (red and yellow) to duke it out in the field. Looking back, it truly was a fortunate and adventurous year to have spent with the staff and students.  It was a bittersweet moment to end the year but we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break.  Let’s EASE into summer!

VFA students line up to pile on delcious food prepared by staff and friends.
